The above photo is of the Teatro Nacional in the center of San José. This is a national treasure and the nation's most impressive architectural showpiece. The preceding photos show some the highlights of our first trip to Costa Rica in 1997.

In the summer of 1998 we returned again to visit our friends and to see more of their wonderful country. The photo below was taken on our trip to Tortuguero National Park. The park is a remote rain forest in pristine condition with lagoons and swamps. It is on the edge of the Northern Caribbean coast which is reached by boat through canals.
