In the photo above is a wall fresco in the Villa of Mysteries, a patrician dwelling in Pompeii. In the photo below is an erotic fountain statue located in the House of the Vettii. The cities of Pompeii and nearby Herculaneum were in a sense put in a time capsule by the eruption. And we can now see how people lived their daily lives more than 1900 years ago.
