In the photo above is a view of the Expo '98 World Fair venue from the Vasco da Gama Tower. We toured the grounds and took a ride on the elevated cable car along the riverfront. In the photo below is the nearby lovely city of Sintra, a day trip from Lisbon. Our Lisbon friends, Joaquim and Suzette, were our tour guides. The tour books say that if you're able to make only one trip out of Lisbon, Sintra should be it! For 500 years the kings of Portugal chose Sintra, as their summer resort.
