In the photo above is the magnificent 19th century Palácio Nacional da Pena, Sintra's own Disney castle! The interior rooms have been left just as they were when the royal family fled on the eve of the revolution in 1910. West of Sintra on the Atlantic Ocean is Cabo da Roca (Rock Cape). The monument on top of a sheer cliff marks the western-most point of Europe and we have a signed Certificate to prove we where there! We really enjoyed our year 2000 return visit to the lovely country of Portugal, especially with the opportunity to visit our friends Joaquim and Suzette whom we met on our trip in 1989.
