We enjoyed a street fair one day in Salamanca and took the photo above of one of the artisans practicing his craft. The photo below shows the tower of the New Cathedral (Cathedral Nueva). It was built within a few yards of the University and acted as a buttress for the Old Cathedral which was in danger of falling down. The construction spanned two centuries and thus the structure incorporates a range of styles, with some Renaissance and Baroque elements and a tower modeled on that of the cathedral at Toledo.
