In the photo above Betty is standing near the famous Roman aqueduct in Segovia, a small city northwest of Madrid. The aqueduct is over 800 meters long and at one point towers 30 meters above the plaza below. It stands up without a drop of mortar or cement! It was probably built around the end of the first century AD. The photo below is the band shell in the Plaza Mayor of Segovia. As luck would have it, we visited this lovely place on the day of its patron saint holiday and enjoyed a band concert and street fair with marching bands.
