A short day trip from Cáceres is the city of Mérida, a fascinating city full of Roman ruins. In the photo above is the Roman Amphitheater which dates to the year 8 B. C. In the photo below is the Roman Theater which dates from the years 16, 15 B. C. It functions today as an outdoor theater for special events. Some of the other Roman ruins include the Circo, the Aqueduct, the Municipal Forum and the Temple of Diana, among others.
