In June, 2001 we had the opportunity to visit Marielos in Cáceres, Spain where she has been studying since December, 2000, for her Doctorate Degree at the University of Extremadura. We arrived by train from Madrid and Marielos met us at the train station where the above photo was taken. We had not seen Marielos since our last visit with her in Costa Rica in 1999 so it was great to see her again. Marielos lives next to the walled "Old City" which is a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 1986. In the photo below, Marielos is in the "modern" part of Cáceres.
